Evelyn N Mayerson
Glass
Evelyn, native of Edmonton Alberta, grew up in Chilliwack B.C. Her artistic endeavours began at a young age and she soon realized her calling after her initial stained glass lesson in 1989. In 1990, she jointly owned an art glass studio in Cochrane, Alberta. She explored various glass mediums and honed her skills creating works of art through stained glass, lampworking, fusing and sandblasting.
Embracing her entrepreneurial spirit and having further developed her artistic skills, she began GEM Glassworks, which she currently owns and operates in Calgary, Alberta. Although Evelyn loves creating works of art utilizing stained glass, often incorporating various glass mediums within each piece, her passion is best expressed though lampworking. Melting glass rods in the flame of a torch, utilizing various tools to recreate her interpretation of the grandeur that Mother Nature displays. The beauty that Mother Nature displays, inspires many of Evelyn's creations, whether a stained glass entryway or a life like stem of glass orchids.
Evelyn exhibits locally and internationally in several galleries in Canada and as far away as on the island of Maui. She is a member ofThe Glass Art Association of Canada and also submits a yearly entry to the New Glass Review conducted by The Corning Museum of Glass. Her objects of artwork range from large Scale Stained Glass Walls and entryways to life size, one of a kind sculptures, to exquisitely designed original Glass feathers, flowers, masks and Bow Ties, all expressing the wide variety of qualities of glass as a medium.
The artwork of Evelyn Mayerson is represented by Rowles & Company Ltd., Alberta's Corporate Gift and Art Gallery in Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta Canada.
