Michael Jell
Michael Jell was born in Maidstone, England but he spent most of his childhood in Zimbabwe, Africa. In 1969 his family moved to Eastern Canada.
Michael was fortunate to have good teachers who encouraged his artistic talents. He attended Sheridan College of Art in Ontario. The positive feedback and support from his art teachers gave him an excellent foundation and he has continued to develop and learn on his own.
Michael has worked in a number of different mediums but over time has found that oil and acrylic suit his style the best. Member of The Federation of Canadian Artist, also Member of Oil Painters of America.
Michael's interest in the ranch life of this area has resulted in a number of paintings depicting the scenery and lifestyle of the working cowboy. His Western Art has been commissioned by local ranchers. Michael also has an appreciation of the natural world and spends much of his time exploring the Okanagan area. Over the past few years Michael's interests have led him to landscape paintings depicting the beauty of the Okanagan area, His ambition is to continue to paint and to grow as an artist.
Michael won the Gold Award for his painting "Back to the Beginning" at the Thompson-Nicola-Shuswap Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists in April 2012. This painting was also chosen as a finalist in the Southwest Art Magazine, January 2014 issue. I was chosen out of 6000 entries received from all over the world.

Michael has also won People's Choice and Best of Show, among other awards, at national and regional juried shows he has participated in.
Michael's work has also been published in and chosen for the front page of Art Avenue, a magazine published by the Federation of Canadian Artists, and Beef In B.C., published by the B.C. Cattleman's Association.
