Jennifer Jacoby

Jennifer Jacoby is a professional artist from Calgary, Alberta. A graduate of the Alberta College of Art and Design, Jennifer's work consists of both hot glass and flat glass. Jennifer's work comes from a traditional background as a result of her two apprenticeships, first in Sienna, Italy and second in London, England in 1995. It was after her experience in Europe that Jennifer decided to attend the Alberta College of Art and Design and further investigate the world of hot glass.

Jennifer has combined traditional materials and design and engendered them with contemporary elements such as architecture. It is through this manipulation of design and architectural forms that Jennifer is creating a relationship between traditional materials such as glass and modern day structures.

"GOSSIP Figure"

The Communication Sculpture

Gossip is a series of artwork that was created to celebrate and reflect the bond of communication. Each figure reflects the individual character and diversity of communicating. Each figure is carefully sculpted and pulled to form a unique one-of-a-kind shape. Individually, the intertwining shape twists and curls, portraying a proud and graceful strength. Grouped together, there is a continuous, cohesive movement between the figures - chatting, playing and communicating. The strength of the configuration is not only found in the vessels' forms but in the negative spaces they create. The formation of theses spaces are further enhanced by the continuous experimentation with form, light and colour. By manipulating the vessels, the viewer creates a new and interactive visual effect which in turn produces a dialogue all its own.

The artwork of Jennifer Jacoby is represented by Rowles & Company Ltd., Alberta's Corporate Gift & Art Gallery, in Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
