Kathy Shirt
Kathy Shirt is a member of the Saddle Lake First Nation in Alberta. She works in a variety of mediums creating both contemporary and traditional native arts and crafts. Kathy also studied silk screen, tie dye and batik, weaving and textile arts and has become known for her traditional clothing designs. Kathy has received wide spread exposure from galleries, native festivals and, for the past twenty years, on a weekly feature on native life on Global ITV television.
Her artwork and clothing designs have also been used on the sets of the popular television series "Destiny Ridge." She has been instrumental in designing and creating the 10 Foot Dream Catcher hanging in the lobby of the Sawridge Hotel in Fort McMurray as well as creating several ceremonial and traditional objects of art in 2004. The artwork of Kathy Shirt can be found in both private and corporate collections throughout the world.
