James Roberts
James Roberts was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. He started painting even before attending school, at age 4. He attended the Edmonton Museum of Arts while in elementary school and realized that group classroom settings were not for him. He eventually moved to Vancouver Island.
Later he lived in Vancouver and spent five years in Toronto before returning to the Island. James has also visited Africa, India, Israel, Bora Bora and numerous other cities and countries. Experiencing various places in the world has been both a lesson and an inspiration to James. He finds a common thread throughout the world; the fantastic blend of natural and human created structures.
Documented through photography, drawing, and memory, the incredible things James has seen have armed him with a lifetime of images from which he draws his vision.
ARTIST STATEMENT
"Having spent some time designing, my love for creative construction and building materials grew over the years. They form the basic root or 'bones' of my work. It's rewarding to be passionate about all these various products of nature and man. They are always changing or new. Resources for my work are endless. Combine the element of light with all these various forms, and that's the direction of my work."
The artwork of James Roberts is represented by Rowles & Company Ltd., Alberta's Corporate Art & Gift Gallery, in Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
