“Thanks to the foresight and generosity of the late Ronald Gordon Rowswell to the Edmonton Community Foundation, the net proceeds of sale from this artwork will contribute, now and in the future, financial support for talented university students”

This collection of Inuit Sculptures have been created by a variety of  Canadian Aboriginal and Inuit Artists.  Throughout his journeys through the Yukon  and North West Territories, Ronald Rosswell met many of the local artists and was captured by  their sculptures. More than once, he purchased pieces to help out a struggling Inuit carver and as a result ended up with a varied collection of carvings made from a variety of soapstone and Chloride rock. Many of the pieces are signed in the local language and the names are not discernible. It was in the decades before internet and computers, therefore the history of the people were depicted in their sculptures often recording a particular event, a significant hunt or special time of year.
